What is Wednesday at the River (youth group)?

The River is an intentional space for students and their friends to gather in the middle of the week to do life together and experience the Gospel. The River is a place where students can come, bring their friends and encounter the Gospel and hear about the love of Jesus.

We meet once a week on Wednesday night for all students in the 6th – 12th grade. This is a time to be in fellowship, to laugh, to worship, and to study the Bible. It’s a place where students can be real about who they are and where we can help provide real answers to the questions, hurts, struggles, and joys that life can bring.

During the school year on Wednesdays after school at the River starts at 3pm, this is a time for students that walk from school, can work on home work , or just hang out. We have a small meal for the students at 5:00 and at 6:00 we play a group game and began worship after that. Worship runs until 7:00 pm when we split into small groups to have a deeper discussion about the lesson. Small groups are broke up in JR high, high school and boy, girl.

All Wednesday activities are held in the Student Ministry Building on the FBC campus. This is the with brick building located across 1st street from the main FBC building. Students enter in the middle of the building by the circle drive.

Who leads Wednesday at The River?

All of the staff and volunteers are background checked and have signed a child protection policy. There are adult leaders and student leaders present at each River meeting. The leaders enforce a zero tolerance policy for any behavior that may be considered bullying.

We want to cultivate an environment where students feel welcome, encouraged, supported and loved by the staff, volunteers and other students. If you have any questions or issues that you feel need to be addressed please be sure to speak to a TRSM Staff member so we are aware of the issue. We know that the experiences that they have in these difficult teenage years can shape them into the future so we want to partner with you in as many ways as possible to help you and your student have a positive experience at the River Student Ministry and First Baptist Crystal River.
